Research within the field of Li ion batteries is very popular all over the world, with a large commercial interest. This makes it very interesting, but also challenging, to start up a new research group.
The presentation will describe some of the considerations and challenges you encounter when starting up research within the field on Li ion batteries. Based on the personal experiences I have attained during my Ph.D. study working with Li batteries, I will show some examples of practical problems and issues that are inevitable.

In 2010 I finished as Master of Science in Engineering in Chemistry at the Technical University of Denmark. Afterwards I worked as Scientific Assistant at the department of Energy Conversion and Storage at DTU, to help building up battery research facilities.
In March 2011 I started my Ph.D. study with the title “Development of new electrode materials for lithium ion batteries”. Doing this period I have gained knowledge about synthesizing and testing new cathode materials as well as fabrication of thin-film inorganic solid electrolytes.
