2020 Danish Battery Symposium

We are pleased to invite you to the

Danish Battery Symposium 2020

at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) in Lyngby

Thursday, 12th of March 2020

from 9.00 to 17.00

At 17:00 the General Meeting will begin and at 18:00 the dinner will be served

This is the 8th annual symposium in the Danish Battery Society and we look very much forward to welcome you at DTU in Lyngby, which hosts this year’s symposium. We have worked hard to put together an exciting program with internationally renowned speakers within battery chemistry, solid-state batteries and reuse and recycling of batteries. In addition to the talks, we will have member updates, a breakout session with three parallel tracks and plenty opportunities to network.

The invited speakers are:

  • Jigang Zhou, Canadian Light Source, on ‘Correlative Imaging of Battery Heterogeneities: ionic transport, electronic structure and chemistry
  • Guinevere Giffin, Fraunhofer, on ‘New developments in solid state batteries
  • Søren Linderoth, DTU Energy, on ‘Energy Storage initiatives
  • Johnny Bøwig, DPA-System, on ‘Producentansvar for batterier – regler om ansvarlig bortskaffelse
  • Jørn C. Tidemann, Fortum, on ‘Recycling and reuse of batteries
  • William Brant, Uppsala University, on ‘Making research a reality: The road to commercialisation of Prussian blue based sodium ion batteries

The breakout session provide a unique opportunity to dig deeper into a subject and it has turned in to a recurrent event at our annual symposium. This year, the breakout session tracks will focus on x-ray and neutron diffraction, solid state batteries, and environmental considerations and recycling of batteries.

The general meeting is planned for an afternoon session at 17:00, between the symposium and the dinner. For those not attending the general meeting, we will serve refreshments and encourage to networking with the other participants.

Symposium fee

The symposium fee is:

DKK 500 for members (Both personal members and employees of member companies/institutes)

DKK 200 for student members (Bachelor- and master-student members)

Our Goal

Danish Battery Conference 2013 The battery research is blooming in Denmark and a number of Danish companies are already focusing on developing materials and implementing batteries in commercial products.

The active players in Denmark are often small groups and to compete internationally, we see a need for exchange of knowledge and experience, i.e. characterization methods, lab facilities, types of batteries and market trends.

In recent years a number of interest groups have been founded to meet a need of sharing knowledge within a specific type of battery chemistry or a specific application of batteries, but so far no association has tried to gather and share information across the various research areas.

The purpose of the Danish Battery Society is to create a forum to share knowledge through targeted events and an annual meeting.
