Obama and the US government concentrates on industrial policies for development of electric car technologies – so much so that it is one of the White House’s “21st Century Grand Challenges”. With ambitious targets the US government supports domestic development and mass production of the future electric vehicle and electric vehicle battery.
China is also committed to become the world leader with in electric cars. The Chinese government aims at having 500,000 electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids in China by 2015 and 5 million by 2020.
